Back to School

It's that time of year again. Mrs Beaver arranged Michael and Renee in front of the door to get the obligatory back to school photo.

"Hurry up Momma, we'll be late!"
"Wait there little ones, just one more, say WE LOVE LEARNING!"

Mr Springer was so happy to see everyone after the summer break. But as soon as the class were settled at their desks inside, Mr Springer asked them all to follow him outside into the school yard.

"I hope you had a wonderful summer class! Our first lesson will be held outside, bring your spades and trowels!"

The first lesson of the year would be to learn where all their food came from. So the class got busy tending to the vegetable patches full of delicious colourful vegetables.

"Look at all the beautiful butterflies!"
"No time to dawdle, get harvesting all those yummy Veg. We'll be cooking the whole schools lunch with them!"

Mr Springers class gathered all the vegetables to take to the kitchen, but just as they were heading in doors poor little Thomas Fielding tripped over spilling cauliflowers, lettuce and cabbages all over the floor!

"Im so sorry everybody, what a waste of food!"
"Don't worry little one, all the veggies came from the ground, we have to wash them first, you haven't wasted any!"

Everyone mucked in cleaning, scrubbing and peeling all the veggies from the plot. It was messy work, but fun to do together!

"I didn't know anything could be so dirty!"
"You should see Michael before he has a bath!"

The class worked hard preparing lunch for the school, but boy was it worth it. The fresh veggies looked like a rainbow of scrummynous, they were so delicious everyone went back for seconds!

"We'll definitely be getting our 5 a day today... But Freya, you only have carrots?!"
"Yes, but I have 5 of them, that counts right?!"
